For those who don’t recall, the 29-year-old comedian was supposed to host the late-night sketch comedy show on May 6 for the first time since he left in 2022. However, the episode was thrown out when the Writers Guild of America went on strike to fight for better working conditions and fair wages. With the strike ending late last month, though, Pete is set to come back to host on Saturday with Ice Spice as the musical guest.

Sadly, the actor hasn’t been in a great headspace amid show preparations. In fact, a friend told Page Six on Friday that it’s been a really difficult week for Pete. Like many of us, the horrific Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel have been on his mind. And for Pete, it has reminded him of losing his father, Scott Davidson, during the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center:

“Pete’s dad was a victim in the terrorist attacks of 9/11, so it’s been a hard week for him.”

So, to distract himself, Pete has been focused on the job, working on his monologue at comedy clubs in New York City. It’s unknown if he plans on mentioning what’s happening in Israel and Gaza in his opening monologue at this time. The insider said:

“He’s thrown himself into the show, because, what else can you do?”

While producers were used to him not coming to set due to personal struggles throughout his time on SNL, he has been dedicated to showing up and putting in the work this week. The outlet reported that Pete has had a busy week at the 30 Rock studios, going to read-throughs, writing skits, and attending the traditional host dinner with executive producer Lorne Michaels and the cast.

Saturday Night Live is very stressful and filled with long hours. So hopefully he’s taking some time to focus on his mental health, especially if he’s been struggling with some painful memories as a result of the tragedies occurring right now. Fortunately, as the Page Six source noted, he seems to have a supportive group looking out for him at this time:

“A message to my Jewish friends and family. I love you. I support you. I have heard about how scared you feel during this time and I want you to know you are not alone in this. My heart is broken seeing the videos of these babies and families being terrorized and murdered in front of the whole world! As human beings with a heart, how can anyone not be devastated by these horrific images that we will never be able to unsee? Brutal terrorism has taken innocent lives and now both Israeli and Palestinian civilians are suffering and paying the greatest price there is.”

Kim noted she is “particularly sensitive to these issues,” given the fact that she’s been very vocal about the Armenian Genocide over the years, adding:

“After months of blockade with minimal media coverage and no external support, Armenians are the victims of an ethnic cleansing themselves in Artsakh. They are in this moment also suffering from an extreme humanitarian crisis, and there are still prisoners of war being held captive or missing.”

The Kardashians star went on to point out that it does not matter whose “side” you might be on, as “our hearts should always have room for compassion towards innocent victims caught in the cross hairs of warring over power, politics, religion, race and ethnicity.”

And while Kim recognizes there is “nothing” she “can do to personally” help ease the “pain” right now, she assured her followers that she and her family are “praying for the safe return of hostages, for those that have died and their affected families, for peace for all the innocent, and for the perpetrators of this indefensible violence to be brought to justice.” She concluded by urging everyone to reach out to their loved ones during this difficult time:

“My call to action today, something that we can all do, is simply reach out to your friends, colleagues and those in your community, those who are hurting, no matter what side they are on, check in on them and tell them you love them.”

As of right now, Kim is the only one in her family to pen a lengthy statement about the horrific attacks. Her younger sister, Kylie Jenner, had been one of the first celebrities to express her support for Israel but deleted her post after facing criticism. She has not addressed the situation since then.

In a new chat with People out on Wednesday, Jada Pinkett Smith opened up about her complicated history with Chris Rock, who Will Smith famously slapped during the award show last year. Not only does she have some beef with the Everybody Hates Chris alum, but he once totally admitted he was crushing on her and got brutally rejected!

She claims their problems all started in 2016, and the drama also stemmed from the Academy Awards. At the time, Jada was in support of the #OscarsSoWhite movement, calling for a boycott of the show after Will was overlooked for his performance in Concussion, among many other Black creatives. The issue? Chris was hosting that year.

Referencing her upcoming book Worthy, the Scream 2 star acknowledged:

“I talk about this in the book, I think that there might be some misunderstanding between Chris and I as far as the 2016 Oscars. I think that he might’ve taken offense, which I meant no harm in offending. That wasn’t my intention. But I do think that there’s a big misunderstanding there.”

Now, Jada admits she did “not really recognizing the level of pressure [Chris] might’ve been under” at the time, noting she could’ve done a lot more to support him while also sticking up for the cause:

“I probably should have called him and gone, ‘Hey, are you okay? And just know that although I’m speaking out about the Oscars, I do wish you the best and I just want you to know that,’ me taking the time to have called him and said that, just to touch base. But his feelings might’ve been hurt.”

But, of course, she didn’t make that phone call. And in his Netflix special Selective Outrage earlier this year, Chris took jabs at the Smiths for the controversy. Looking back, Jada said:

“All we can ever do is just look at our part and see where could I have done something that would’ve seemed as if… Whatever misunderstanding might’ve been created, what could I have done to avoid that misunderstanding? The one thing that I think about is that call.”

Innerestingly, they did have a phone call in 2016 after the award ceremony to hash it out — and she thought everything was A-OK! She dished:

“He apologized and I apologized to him as well. So I actually thought that we were good, that the hatchet was buried between us. And we hadn’t talked since then, until 2022 came.”

But after the Madagascar actor made a joke about Jada’s bald head, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum stormed the stage and hit him in the middle of the broadcast, shocking the world. Even the 52-year-old woman was confused at first:

“From where I was sitting I couldn’t tell. It didn’t look like Will hit Chris, because, number one, I’d seen Will in the boxing ring with pro fighters — Will’s a heavy-hitter. So when Chris moved, it looked like he ducked or he missed the shot. And when he continued to stand, and then when he continued to walk down to the end of the stage, I was like, ‘There’s no way. There’s no way that Will hit him.’ […] It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn’t a skit. I was in as much of a fog as anybody else in that room that night.”

She recalled trying to “keep myself grounded and settled for the people around us, and specifically for Will,” adding:

“I wasn’t quite sure what was going on. I just knew, one thing I’ve realized in everything I’ve been through is stay calm, stay clear. Just so you can keep your awareness on what is happening around you.”

After the cameras cut to commercial, she and Chris shared a moment, she revealed:

“Chris came down to the end of the stage and tried to apologize to me. He said, ‘I didn’t mean you any harm.’ I said, ‘I can’t talk about this now, Chris. This is some old s**t.’ I thought this was [about] the Oscar 2016 and … their stuff that they had before I even came into the picture in the late ‘80s. I’ve got to leave that to Will and Chris to talk about, but they got their stuff for sure.”

While she didn’t love being the punchline, she understood it’s just part of the job:

“I mean, that’s what comedians do. I would just have to say that I am not really here to make any judgment on how people decide to express themselves and express their art. I’ll say that several times I’ve had my feelings hurt, for sure. I’ve had my feelings hurt a lot by Chris. But at the end of the day, too, being in the spotlight, it comes with the territory.”

Here’s where things get VERY spicy, though!

One of the reasons Will might have been so sensitive to Chris’ remark is because Chris once tried to steal his girl! WHAT?! The author reveals in her book that the stand-up comedian asked her out when he thought the couple was divorcing! OMG! She told the mag:

“I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce. And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce. So he called me and basically he was like, ‘I’d love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumors.’ He was appalled. And he profusely apologized and that was that.”

First of all, that’s SO embarrassing for him! It could also be why Will was so touchy about Chris talking about his (pretend) wife? We say pretend because Jada just revealed she and Will have been living completely separate lives since 2016, though she hasn’t filed for divorce. While it’s unclear when exactly Chris shot his shot, she had plenty of opportunities to test things out with him if she wanted. Oof…

We don’t think the Grown Ups alum will ever be taking the Red Table Talk host out on a date, tho, since she hasn’t “talked to” him since the infamous slap! She expressed:

“[Do I have] any desire to talk to Chris? Here’s my desire: I just hope that all the misunderstanding around this can be cleared up and that there can be peace.”

She is also on her “own journey of self-worth” and is being a support system for Will while letting him figure his s**t out, as she told People:

“For a lot of years I’ve taken on a lot of responsibility thinking that I’m responsible for a lot of things that just aren’t my responsibility. Part of my codependency. […] I’m going to be by his side, but also allow him to have to figure this out for himself. [I’m] finding a way to support him without trying to take away or deal with it for him, what he has to be with.”

Every time we peel back a layer of this onion, the dynamic between this trio gets messier!

At one point on X (Twitter), she even asked the terrorists (whom she called “the freedom fighters in Palestine”) to “flip their phones and film horizontal” — so she could see the brutal murders of innocent people better.

Truly such a terrible thing to say in light of the loss of so many innocent lives. And despite the controversy her statements caused, she only doubled down further. But now her actions are catching up to her!

On Monday, Playboy sent an email to its subscribers announcing the immediate termination of their partnership with the model, revealing:

“Dear Creator Community, we are writing today to let you know our decision to terminate Playboy’s relationship with Mia Khalifa, including deleting Mia’s Playboy channel on our creator platform.”

As of now, her page on the adult entertainment company’s NSFW website Centerfold (which she joined in 2022) has been replaced with a “Not Found” graphic. Addressing her disturbing comments on the Israel war, the company continued:

“Over the past few days, Mia has made disgusting and reprehensible comments celebrating Hamas’ attacks on Israel and the murder of innocent men, women, and children. At Playboy, we encourage free expression and constructive political debate, but we have a zero tolerance policy for hate speech. We expect Mia to understand that her words and actions have consequences.”

Ahead of the announcement, it would seem the 30-year-old knew this backlash would come since she wrote on X on Sunday:

“I’d say supporting Palestine has lost me business opportunities, but I’m more angry at myself for not checking whether or not I was entering into business with Zionists.”

But after getting slammed with a ton of criticism in the comments, she quickly deleted the post from her Instagram Story — a move Jewish orgs are now hoping she’ll rethink!

Roz Rothstein, the co-founder and CEO of StandWithUs, told TMZ on Tuesday morning that they were pleased with Kylie’s initial support, sharing:

“It’s a shame that some people cannot express themselves honestly because of intense pressure and intimidation by Hamas sympathizers.”

Those at the American Jewish Committee also encouraged Kylie and all other celebrities and influencers to use their platforms for good during this devastating moment of violence. Spokesman Richard Hirschhaut told the outlet that the reality star “did the right thing and acted with her heart with her initial post” and she “should be applauded for speaking up and speaking out.”

Unfortunately, the model became “a subject of vicious and ugly scorn,” but he hopes she’ll share the post again. As he told the outlet:

“The power of social media and the power of celebrity is desperately needed at this moment when Israel is at war and under attack by a terrorist organization that is barbaric, inhumane and immoral.”

The AJC is now calling for “influencers across the spectrum to demonstrate moral courage and amplify moral clarity by supporting Israel’s high moral ground.” Because the terrorist group is using social media to show off their “sheer barbarity,” the organization feels anyone with a large following should fight back with messages of love, support, and solidarity with Israel, adding:

“If there ever was a moment to show your followers who you are and what you stand for, this is it.”

Kylie was just one of many stars who spoke out in support of Israel, including Gal Gadot, Bono, Sarah Silverman, Jamie Lee Curtis, Amy Schumer, Madonna, Natalie Portman, Mark Hamill, and many more. So far, she hasn’t commented on the war or controversy since deleting her OG post.

“If you can look at the situation in Palestine and not be on the side of Palestinians, then you are on the wrong side of apartheid, and history will show that in Time.”

She then reposted a photo of Hamas terrorists riding in the back of a truck with their guns aimed at a police vehicle, calling it a “Renaissance painting.”

But drawing the most controversy was definitely her request for the murders to be filmed in higher quality, in which she wrote:

“Can someone please tell the freedom fighters in Palestine to flip their phones and film horizontal.”

Jeez.

Many took this as her wanting to see the brutal killings of innocent people better — which is SO disturbing no matter what your thoughts are on this tragic war. What an insensitive remark!

Mia also called out Kylie Jenner for sharing a since-deleted post in support of Israel, arguing:

“If true journalism exists, the next person to talk to Kylie Jenner will ask for her opinion on geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and not break eye contact until she can string one coherent sentence together since she wants to take a stance to her 400M followers so badly.”

Khalifa, who grew popular in the adult film industry in 2014, was banned from her home country of Lebanon, per the New York Post. Back in 2018, she claimed she received death threats from ISIS for wearing a hijab while shooting a sex scene. She has continued to repost many other posts in support of the war despite backlash.

Seriously, Doja?! For those who don’t know, he co-wrote the sketch comedy Million Dollar Extreme Presents: World Peace for Adult Swim in 2016. But the show sparked a ton of backlash and was canceled after one season after viewers noticed it promoted racism, sexism, and other bigoted views. But that’s not the only horrific incident.

A year later, Hyde gave $5,000 for the legal defense of the founder of the website Daily Stormer – a known neo-nazi publication. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Southern Poverty Law Center sued the creator, Andrew Anglin, for organizing a “troll storm” against a Jewish woman in Montana. And when a reporter reached out to Hyde for a comment about his pledge, he reportedly asked if they were Jewish and said $5,000 was nothing to him. WTF?!

On top of all this, many have most likely seen his face on social media as he’s been repeatedly and falsely linked to mass shootings around the US for years due to a picture of him holding a gun. So you can understand why people do not like him whatsoever and thus were pissed when they noticed Doja was wearing a photo of Hyde, which is of the viral picture. She immediately faced backlash on social media, with fans writing in the comments of her new post:

The Tonight Show has been on a hiatus over the past five months due to the writer’s strike in Hollywood, and a lot happened during his time away from the late-night talk show! For those who don’t recall, the 49-year-old comedian was accused of allegedly fostering a toxic work environment by 16 anonymous staffers in a bombshell report from Rolling Stone. Employees claimed he would drink on set, “snap at crew members, express irritation over the smallest of things, and berate and belittle staffers out of frustration” — to the point where it greatly impacted their mental health.

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about accusations of horrific behavior when it comes to Jimmy. A woman previously claimed she was groomed by Horatio Sanz at Saturday Night Live, and the host had known about the whole thing. She even demanded he come forward to speak out about what happened. However, Jimmy has yet to address the matter.

So, if you were hoping he would at least take the time to talk about the toxic workplace accusations publicly, don’t hold your breath. Because he barely said anything about it when he returned for the first time to The Tonight Show on Monday. He said during a monologue:

“I had a lot of time, five months, a lot of time to really just sit and think. And I finally just took a moment and realized how grateful I am for all of this and for this show. I really love this job, I love doing it, I love telling jokes, I love interviewing people, I love making you laugh. I’m very lucky to have this show, and I want to thank you all for supporting and choosing to have me in your bedrooms at nighttime.”

Innerestingly enough, Jimmy went on to give a shout-out to his staff members:

“This is what I love to do, and I want to do it for a long time. I’m so happy to be back. Thank you to our crew, our staff. Our writers are now back in the building and we’re going to make some fun shows.”
