During a Monday appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the Gravity singer shared that from time to time, he’ll tune into his old hit with the American Idol judge, Who You Love:

“I still listen to that every once in a while, and I go, ‘I like that song.’ I like the way she sounds on that song, I feel like she got that way of singing down, and, like, met the challenge of that song. It was so much fun.”

Wow, what a refreshingly nice take on an ex! LOLz!

He added, “Isn’t that great? I’m glad we did that,” sharing its sound served as a “prototype” for his 2021 album Sob Rock. The 45-year-old explained:

“It was just at the point where I was saying, ‘Why can’t I make music from a different era?’ If I love a style of music and I want to make it, like a genre, why can’t I make music that I was pretending was from a different era?”

John and Katy dated on and off from 2012 to 2015 following her split from disgraced comedian Russell Brand, and after the New Light singer dated Taylor Swift. Katy has since a daughter with Orlando Bloom and seems to have found happiness. Sounds like John is happy for her, too!

Taylor Swift is delving into the world of screenwriting, according to a source for The Sun this week — and that could be bad news for her actor exes. According to the insider, the pop superstar is in talks with Alice Birch, one of the acclaimed writers of HBO hit Succession, and they’ve already got some ideas flowing:

“Taylor is a multi-talented individual and while her love life has given her ten No. 1 albums, it is also in the early stages of spawning a new TV show. She has been introduced to Alice and they have started discussing a possible new screenplay. Taylor is incredibly astute and getting her head into a project like this would be perfect for her.”

Could it really be another examination of her relationships? The way her All Too Well short film was? Inneresting…

Per the source, the show they’re discussing is a “meta-feminist” type of series. The insider explained why they think Alice is the perfect match for Tay Tay’s vision:

“Alice is an ideal writing partner as she helped shape Succession character Shiv Roy. Seeing how she moulded this character, who existed in a male-dominated environment, caught Taylor’s eye. They have just been throwing around ideas.”

Ooh, Taylor as Shiv? Inneresting! We wonder if this might tackle her fights in the music industry, too! Kind of like an actual good version of The Idol?

Of course, the Anti-Hero songstress is known for making empowering anthems, as well as writing songs about her love life — and her TV show would be no different! The source added:

“Naturally, Taylor’s relationships have inspired some of her biggest songs, many of which have become empowerment anthems. This translates easily on to the screen and there are so many threads they can take from it. It is really exciting and something Taylor is looking to branch out into.”

So exciting! Obviously this is very early days, so casting is still a LOOOONG way away. But we can probably safely assume Joe Alwyn, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Harry Styles aren’t going to be on any shortlists for potential leading men… Ha!

Of course this isn’t the first time Taylor is dipping her toe into longer form storytelling. Last December, we reported the exciting news that Searchlight Pictures would be teaming up with the Midnights musician for a feature film. At the Toronto Film Festival, she said of the new venture:

“I’d like to keep taking baby steps and I’m at a place now where the next baby step is not a baby step. It would be committing to making a film and I would absolutely love for the right opportunity to arise, because I adore telling stories this way.”

Just like his ex-girlfriend, the Gravity hitmaker is sending a message to Swifties. On Thursday, he took to Instagram to show off some cool snapshots of his Boulder, Colorado shows with his band Dead & Company — but amid the carousel some eagle-eyed fans spotted what appears to be a not-so-subtle plea for mercy.

On the very night of the Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) release, John posted a photo of drones spelling out “please be kind” above his band’s stage on the sixth slide. On top of that, the caption read:

“It doesn’t get better than three nights at Folsom Field in Boulder with @deadandcompany. Oh wait no yes it does… it gets way better when Dave Matthews (@davematthewsband) shows up and for four songs makes everyone believe they’re dreaming. The afterglow is still shining bright…”

Obviously it’s a universal message that applies at all times… but the timing was too much for Swifties to ignore!

The 45-year-old’s comments were quickly flooded with T-Swizzle fans who gave their opinion on the photo, writing:

The 33-year-old singer made the request while getting ready to sing Dear John for the first time in eleven years during her show at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Saturday night. She told the audience:

“I get to stand on this stage every single night of this tour and watch some of the most beautiful things happen. I watch you guys make friends with each other. I watch you bond. I watch you give each other friendship bracelets. I see so many beautiful interactions happen, and I hear so many stories about friends that were made at these shows, and I watch it happen, and it’s the most unbelievable thing to watch.”

So with that in mind, Taylor urged Swifties to extend that same “kindness and that gentleness” on the internet when Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) drops on July 7:

“I was hoping to ask you, that as we lead up to this album coming out, I would love for that kindness and that gentleness to extend onto our internet activities. Right? So what I’m trying to say is, I’m putting this album out because I want to own my music and I believe that [those] who have the desire to own their music should be able to. That’s why I’m putting out this album.”

Then, she made her message very clear to everyone:

While Taylor doesn’t directly name John, it was clear her message was about the Daughters artist as she immediately went into her surprise song Dear John after the speech. And we all know the scathing breakup ballad is undeniably about the 45-year-old musician and their short-lived relationship when she was 19, and he was 32. That track is also about to have another massive moment as it’s included on the Speak Now re-release – which John is no doubt dreading next month.

Considering the intense backlash ex Jake Gyllenhaal went through when All Too Well (10 Minute Version) dropped with the Red re-release, he must be shaking at the thought of being dragged through the mud again. Even Taylor Lautner is “praying for John!”

The 45-year-old singer recently opened up about his track Paper Doll — a song fans have long believed is about Taylor. For those who need a refresher, the musicians briefly dated in 2009 when she was only 19 years old and he was 32. And following their break up in February 2010, the now 33-year-old songstress ended up releasing a scathing song called Dear John — which is undeniably about Mayer. The track features savage lyrics like:

“Dear John, I see it all, now it was wrong / Don’t you think nineteen is too young to be played by your dark twisted games when I loved you so? / I should’ve known”

It was pretty brutal, and the song has haunted John over the years! In fact, he blasted the track in an interview with Rolling Stone in 2012, saying:

“It made me feel terrible. It was a really lousy thing to do. I never got an email. I never got a phone call. I was really caught off guard.”

And a year later, he dropped Paper Doll. While Mayer never revealed who was the inspiration for the piece, many fans read it as his response to Taylor, due to easter eggs within the lyrics. For instance, he sings at one point:

“You’re like 22 girls in one/And none of them know what they’re runnin’ from / Was it just too far to fall?/ For a little paper doll.”

Not only does it include the title of her song 22 from the Red album, but it also seemed to be a direct response to a part in Dear John where Taylor belts out:

“And you’ll add my name to your long list of traitors who don’t understand / And I’ll look back and regret how I ignored when they said ‘run as fast as you can.’”

Yeah, there’s no denying that Paper Doll seems to be a clap back at Taylor! He clearly was very salty about the hate he received after Dear John was released.

But after their back-and-forth song drama, John seems to have some regrets over his response to everything! During his concert at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California on April 8, he reflected on the song and confessed that the tune may have come across as a little too “bitchy” — at least for his liking these days. In a video posted on TikTok, John could be seen telling the audience:

“I wonder if people don’t like it because it sounds a little pissed off. I don’t like ‘pissed off’ as a song. I think it was more hurt. Is there something about it that’s a little bitchy? I try not to give bitchiness in the song, and that happens sometimes. I guess I don’t do it very well, sarcastic bitch, but I didn’t really see it. I guess it is sort of a little bit like ‘Meehhh.’”

Innerestingly enough, these new comments from John came on the same day that Taylor’s split with her boyfriend of six years, Joe Alywn, was revealed. So naturally, despite his candid reflection, many Swifties thought John was just being shady after making these comments and playing the track in light of the breakup news. The country music crooner isn’t shy about sharing details of her love life with her fans and followers. So it makes perfect sense to learn she dated John Mayer recently. Why not?! Good for her!

Oh, and it also makes twisted sense to us that she did it at the same time as Kristin Cavallari! Uh, oops!!

This past weekend, the 39-year-old musician held a live show in NYC for her popular podcast Whine Down. During the Saturday event, she had a little question-and-answer sesh with fans in the audience. One of them astutely asked what it was like to date Kristin’s ex-husband Jay Cutler — who Jana memorably (and controversially) got with for a brief period in the fall of 2021.

The I Got The Boy singer used that opening to make a big reveal: she and the Hills alum actually crossed, ummm, swords with a man last year: the Your Body Is A Wonderland crooner!!!

One eyewitness who purportedly attended the show at NYC’s City Winery claimed Kramer confirmed she and the 36-year-old Cavallari both pursued Mayer briefly at the same time last year. When asked about Cavallari in relation to Cutler, the Michigan-born Kramer dished:

“I love Kristin and we actually had great conversations since that whole debacle [with Jay]. It was funny because at the same time [John] Mayer was texting and we were hanging out, they were hanging out too.”

Uh-oh!!

Jana went on to reveal that the MTV alum very quickly found the humor in the two stars’ parallel pursuits of the 45-year-old musician:

“[Kristin] was like, ‘of course we would date the same guy at the same time.’ So we laughed about it and it was, like, a thing.”

And that was that! You know, just two celebs unknowingly dating the same other celeb. Haven’t we all been there?! LOLz!

Love cracks aside, it sounds like Jana was never super-serious with John. While Kramer didn’t reveal any details about whether Cavallari connected on a deeper level with Mayer, the mom to Jolie, 7, and Jace, 4, did explain to fans that her own chemistry with John was NOT that deep. Jana subtly revealed she dated the hitmaker “last summer,” and added:

“He was great. He was awesome. I think we realized on our first date, ‘No, we’re for other people.'”

Oh! Well that makes it easy then. No wonder they didn’t pursue anything more. And no wonder Cavallari didn’t sweat the cross-up! As for the rest of Jana’s summer, she spent it having “fun,” as she told her assembled fans. She even called it a “hot girl summer.” Which, TBF, should be every summer. Just saying!!

As for her prior time with the ex-NFL quarterback, Jana used her City Winery chat to briefly explain to fans how Jay was supposedly “pinning” her and Cavallari “against each other.” As Kramer told it to the live audience, the former Denver Broncos star allegedly tried to drive a rift between Jana and Kristin while he pursued the country music artist following his divorce from the reality TV alum:

“He was like, ‘oh yeah, she [Kristin] never liked you,’ and I was like, ‘Oh that’s weird,’ and it became this kind of weird thing.”

Whoa!

But apparently that attempt at pushing the gals apart didn’t (completely) work? Of course, there was a brief period of drama bubbling up, as y’all will no doubt recall. But Jana was complimentary of Kristin during her live show. And the reveal that the two women were apparently able to laugh off their mutual connection to Mayer says a lot about where they stand now. Sucks to suck, Jay!

BTW, it is kind of interesting to hear Kramer out the Uncommon James founder on dating Mayer at all! Back in December of 2020, Kristin went on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show and completely denied ever dating or hooking up with the singer in the past! “I didn’t want to be another notch on his belt,” Kristin quipped to the American Idol host at the time. But clearly something changed between then and 2022. And now, Jana’s out here dishing the goods!!
